How many FoG USA players

Just wondering how many players in the USA are latching onto these rules. I pre-ordered the rules, have the beta copy, and have kick started a bunch of enthusiasm for starting up games at my local club in Connecticut. I guess there is the upcoming tournament at Cold Wars, and isn't there a bunch of guys from Rhode Island play testing the game? I'm hoping that there is a wide acceptance of these rules on the American gaming scene, and was looking for any comments on what the perceived reception is so far on this side of the pond.

My impression is that the number is small, but growing steadily. I have 11 confirmations for the Cold Wars tournament, and a significant number of those people have told me that they have friends who are considering coming out to play. And this is for a set of rules that have not yet been published. With limited exceptions everyone that I know who has tried the rules has been at least positive.

Of course, that is still a small number of people because it is not yet mid-February.

I am looking forward to trying out FoG but will not have the rules until Feb as I ordered through Amazon.

Chalk me up as one very enthusiastic (but decidedly non-tournament) American fan of FoG.

Cheers,

I think it is too soon to declare anything definiative on numbers.

1) Most of beta testers were in Europe.
2) No beta tournaments occured int he US.

I think it is fair to say that there are large number of people planning to give FoG a close look.

I can say every time I have run a demo or talked to someone about it they seem quite interested.

As I posted elsewhere, I think FoG will work much better for scenario games than some other more tournament oriented rules, while still being perfectly usable in tournaments.

For what it's worth, I've pre-ordered the rules from amazon, and I think I can get 2-3 other people in St. Louis to pick up the system in short order, assuming that the game meets my expectations (which I have no doubt that it will).

I'm also very much tournament oriented, although my historical experience is currently limited to Flames of War (with a dash of Warhammer Historicals and Warmaster Ancients for seasoning). I'm hoping that by the fall of '08, we'll have a small group ready for play.

I'm interested to try it out, and a couple players in Texas who don't play DBM at all have pre-ordered. I hope that it catches on and that I like them.

Hi,

I'm leading the charge in Los Angeles.

Had 6 people play in a game 2 weeks ago.

Should get 5 to 8 people in a few weeks for next game.

Cheers,
Bob

Isn't there anyone planning to give this game a try in New England or New York?

I'm in Garland. Played Might of Arms two weeks ago in Arlington, and both Jeff Key and Scott pre-ordered FOG after our game. We announce our gaming regularly on the LSHM- DFW yahoo group - feel free to sign up. For me, Plano is even closer.

I think there was some in Rhode Island that expressed an interest. I think it is a little soon for the explosion of players in the US as it is just beginning to become a reality here as opposed to europe where they are a bit ahead of us on this.

I'm in the KC area, and have a couple of guys very interested.......albeit in 25mm. Some of the Warrior guys may be inclined to take a look too, and they might be more 15mm oriented (and tourney oriented).

Representing the Chicagoland area here.

I am sure the core of DBM players will be making the switch as soon as a few of us...aka Me, Chuck and Silvio make the move to FoG.

So I would expect to have upwards of 20 in Chitown playing by mid-year plus any new folks the pretty cover can grab onto.

i ran a FoG demo in birmingham at the US DBM Team tournament. And met with great interest. Albeit the drunks playing poker in the corner were distracted.

I have yet to find people in the US who don't plan to give FoG a once over.

I'm from Springfield, MO. I know we have a handful of hopeful players here when the game is released.

Galadrin - I know where iversonjm lives, but I'll let him answer for himself. I live in West Hartford, CT, and there are several of use that play out of a hobby shop (The Time Machine) in Manchester, CT. Being on the eastern side of Connecticut, some people would consider it within striking distance of SE Mass. If you'd like to get together for a game some time, either in CT or MA, send me a pm - I'm sure we can work something out.

BTW - I'm pretty sure there is a group playing FoG out of Rhode Island, but I haven't heard them respond to my call for regional players :-(
