Metz?

I cannot beat the first Metz scenario on hard! I can win on medium, but on hard the AI cheats are too much for me to overcome. I must have run and re-run the scenario over 20 times. Same result. I lose!!! What is the key? I've tried different strategies and force pools to no avail. Any hints would be appreciated.

The trick to this is a slow and steady andvance and have all your forces in the first city have them hold fire then prepare everyone in the next cities for the coming assault. Your flanking force needs to keep most of its halftrack alive, and hit the German WESPE with as many priests.

I put everyone in the towns in hold fire mode. I move the two Priests towards the town that has to be captured by turn 4. I use the P-47 (useless!) to hit the town. I move the halftracks in and dismount the infantry. I use the halftracks to try and suppress the Germans(again useless). The infantry gets slaughtered trying to take the town. I generally take the town by about turn 6, after the reinforcements arrive. By then the German armor is busy destroying my units in the other towns! I've tried this on the hard setting so many times I see it in my sleep!

You should have your AT guns facing the VPs and infantry covering the entrances. Have one AT watch the main road and start pickoff halftracks (your P-47 should be aimed at them or infantry) and have some AT infantry reading. Tanks should be in an ambush position at close range.
