In dementia land we had some dailami with 4 MF and 2 lf in a unit, the lf were in the middle due to swarms of lh shooting at the dailami. After a fight v some cav which had broke of and lost a base v the dailami the dailami declared a shot v the cav which caused a drop in morale due to 25% loss on the cav previously, this caused much consternation of the cav commander who had never seen supporting archers shooting in the shooting phase due to being in the 2nd rank can someone clarify for us please cheers Dino

There is no rule stating supporting LF cannot shoot. Any first or second rank LF armed with bow can shoot.

And I agree. The only restriction is if a BG moves in Impact, it can't shoot.
However, 2 LF bases get 1 die per 2 bases so the Dailami are shooting 1 die vs the cav which you said had lost a base and was down 25% so it still had 3 bases. 1 hit per 3 bases does not cause a CT test according to my book. You must have had another BG also shooting at the cav.

You are getting confused bbotus, 1 per 3 will cause a test from shooting.

bbotus got it a little wrong. It's at least 1 per 3 to cause a CT and when calculating the deductions it's -1 for at least 1 hit per 2 bases. So the 3 base Cav had to test with 1 hit, but without the -1 for hits per base.
Cheers
