We age, I begin to dislike the idea of a sequal to a game. I would like the old scenario I have bought for the one to be included in BA2. Because it will be stale to play BA1 after seeing the new engine of BA2. So I think that the extension should be update for BA2 too.

Will it be as simple as a creating a MOD and importing all the data from BA1?
There really aren't any MODS in BA, like we associate with other games. MODS in BA are more like custom scenarios, with additional data. In that case, I dont see why I can't just import all the West Front stuff from BA1.

One of the biggest time-drains maintaining a game after release is keeping everything backward compatible. There are many times where you make a decisions on how to implement something, only to discover that it has caused all kinds of issues, but you can't switch without huge work and/or risk because you have a live game

. When you have a separate sequel, it allows you to reset those issues and rework things without having to worry about existing players or files. That is why BA2 is not (and won't be) completely backward compatible with BA1 files.
That said, converting across BA1 mods etc should not be a huge task, as the bulk of the raw data and layouts are very similar.
Cheers
Pip

Yes, I know. I think as a costumer I am evolving. I no longer want game that goes obsolete. May be I am day dreaming.
