Basing for 10mm?

Greetings

Having looked around the forum and the adverts for FoG I was wondering about digging out and painting my Later Mediaeval 10mm asthere are HYW starter lists in the rules. Is there proposed basing for 10mm figures?

Regards

Edward

To quote from the rules:

"For scales smaller than 15mm it is recommended that the base sizes for the 15mm scale are used, simply add more figures to the base for visual effect."

Many thanks. I wasn't sure if it was going to be the norm of using 40mm frontage or dropping to something like 30mm frontage. Mind you I imagine that using 40mm will make it easier for Warmaster Ancients players to try out FoG.

I've got a lot of sets of rules but FoG looks very tempting.

10mm basing

How do you get 2 ranks of the 10mm figures for heavy infantry on a 15mm depth base? You can't!
Unfortunately, 1 rank of 10mm figures looks lost on a 15mm base depth.
Are the rules then saying that 20mm depth of base for infantry should be used?
Would then fit in well with warmaster!

Also FoG specifically allows troops based for other systems to be used as long as "base" frontages are correct.

FoG is sounding more attractive all the time :)

Sure you can! And they look good too!

The exception is Old Glory, who are horribly based in stands about 28mm wide, so suck for most rules anyway (the mounted are nice though).

Some odd figures from other manufacturers need to have the bases trimmed but I have the following troops in two ranks on 15mm deep bases, all at least 5 figure frontage;

Roman Legions (EIR, Irregular)*
Greek Hoplites (on a slight angle because the sheilds are angled, but still 2*5 on the base, Pendraken)
Carthaginian Spearmen (trimmed bases, Pendraken)
Macedonian Phalangites (Magister Militum)*
Indian Javelinmen (Pendraken)*
Gallic/Galation Warband (Pendraken I think?)

Those that have been painted(*), were painted on the bases too (if you can see it you can paint it, if you can't, you don't need to).
