Tournament and ladder support in BA2?

Hi there, any chance we'll see support for tournaments and ladder in BA2? I think the user managed tournament system needs a serious upgrade and support from the game software. The tournament section is pretty much dead now. I believe that a lot of users don't use the forum so in-game tournament feature would greatly raise the tournament fun factor. This coupled with a ladder system would be just awsome.
Cheers.

Hi, I think you are spot on. Moreover it should be possible for players to take on several "small" tournaments because of the time and commitment required for some bigger ones. Also it would be helpful for players to be able to progress through some sort of league. I know I will never have the skill ort eh time to take on some of our top players but don't want to thrash new to the platform players.
I would of course like my revenge on John Tindall.

They are definitely on our wishlist. Ladders are a more divisive issue as some people actively dislike being ranked, so it's going to be de-facto a feature for a % of users rather than everyone. A robust and easy way for users to create and manage tournaments is something that has been "nearly ready" for a long while, but we've not had the development focus to take it the last few yards. But work is still ongoing!

Indeed the tourny feature is the need to have among the two. However a little bling bling after a tough day at the office never hurts
Anyway good to hear that work is in progress and I hope that you guys find an idle moment to finish it. Thanks for the input.
Cheers.

A league would be nice! How about official tournaments with prizes like a coupon or gift card?

Past experience on things like the Westwood games have shown the lengths people will go to when there is even a small prize element in competitions (hell, even just to be at the top of a ladder). Often you spend more time trying to weed out cheaters than you spend actually getting honest players to have fun...

I have to agree with Landmarine............over the last few months one of the 'keep playing' aspects of BA has been the modders tournaments - such as GJS and the upcoming and mouth-wateringly anticipated Tunis.
Now if there was to be a round robin type 'official' tournie that would be fantastic and a definite upgrade.
And yes I agree Pip there are elements that exist who would do anything to 'cheat' their way to the top, but the great thing about the BA community is it is based on trust - especially the modders tournies - and I for one believe that this will carry over to BA2 - and no doubt anyone gaining 'unrealistic' ladder position etc. would soon be outed.

Well if the reloads of turn rise above 1 then you know where to ban hammer will fall.... Besides, by prize how about some like a 1$ gift card download? Nothing massive like a new game!
