I've played about 5 games now as Axis and the Allied AI has bever landed or attempted to land in France or anywhere else. Anyone know what trigger I have caused for them not to attack france. Thanks.

This is really strange, in all of my 3 games as axis, allies landed in France in 1943 and continue to attack from then on.

Same here. Sometimes I wish the AI would leave me alone in France, but no such luck.

Thats weird. Maybe it's because I've already beat the soviets and everyother country except the US and England by 1943. Anyway, I'm going to try and not attack to much and see if that helps.

You are correct. The AI will not try suicide missions so it will try to land when it has a good enough odds. If you have defeated USSR, the worry for USA and UK is not anymore to invade but rather to defender from Axis invasions. Have you tried to invade UK after USSR and succeded in that?

Yes I know, the victory conditions means that UK HAS to land in France and conquer it to have a chance to victory but the AI does not think like that it rather works more generic and would work on "any map" in roughly the same way. Both pros and cons of course but the AI is flexible in that sense.

Just finished a game vs the allied AI, which began trying to invade France in August 1943. The axis had a strong U-boat fleet and kept sinking the invasion fleet. The allied AI keep on and on and on and the axis u-boats kept sinking them. It wasn't until May 1945 (almost two years later) that the allied AI was able to establish a feeble foothold in France. At that time the axis were in full retreat in Russia. They axis did manage to take Moscow in 1942 and hold on to much of Russia until late 1944. Even in May 1945 the axis still held on to Poland, Romania, Hungry, Finland and part of the Baltic States.

The Italians took the Egypt, Iraq and the oil fields in Iran and were able to add their naval forces to the Germans in the Atlantic.

The allied AI lost at least 10 corps at sea in repeated invasion attempts sunk by the axis u-boats and airforce. And it lost another 4 corps or so in weak invasion landing quickly repulsed by defensive axis forces based in France and the low lands. The axis u-boats and airforce also inflicted heavy losses on the allied naval forces (3 or 4 carriers sunk, 2 battleships, 3 or 4 destroyers). While enjoyable I felt that it was a very poor strategy for the allied AI to keep trying to invade and losing those transports at sea before securing the seas. All in all the allied AI lost 14+ corps over two years before gaining a weak foothold in France in May of 1945.

You'll find that on the higher difficult levels the picture is different, on the highest one stopping the invasion with subs is almost impossible. Trouble is regardless of difficulty setting this happens everytime:

Generally AI makes good use of additional resources it gets, it does not change anything in Africa sadly as the AI does not send troops there anyway. Regardless of that you can get a decent challenge out of AI using difficulty settings.

I said it before...just allow AI deploy units in Egypt (representing Australian and NZ reinforcements arriving through Suez Channel). Things would be very different in Middle East and not the walk in the park that is now.

You've said it before? I have said the same thing. As it is, players who want a challenge in North Africa should play the 1942 war start scenario.
