A team competition

Hiya all

Something I hinted upon a while back, "A team competition".

1 Three players per team, one captain, total ranking to be roughly equal (find ranking system on forum) and hopefully team players to be relatively close, as in time difference. You may also choose a team name, anything within reason and if it does begin, keep the same team name for further comps.

2 Twelve turns, to be played in 2 – 4 weeks. This should give everybody plenty of time to finish. If the game has no outright winner, the player who makes the last move resigns

3 Six rounds using a Swiss system ( 1 round every 2 to 4 weeks). That is teams with the closest scores will play each other. You never play the same team. The scoring system will be based on bp losses in %, 100% is maximum score. Therefore Warlords (team name), pool 1 (24BC to 450AD) Rexhurley 20/40 = 50%, vs Red Dragons (ericdoman1) 30/40 = 75%. The score will be rex 75 vs eric 50. You then total up scores from other players in team.
For Example
Warlords 137, Red Dragons 175, The Vikings 222, Blizzard of Oz 143, Indies 122 and ANZAC 260
ANZAC will play The Vikings, Red Dragons vs Blizzard of OZ and Warlords vs Indies
When all players have finished games and totalled up scores then you can post the result.

4 Three pools/periods.
Pool 1 - 24 BC to 450 AD (400 pts)
Pool 2 – 451 AD to 1080 AD (500 pts), no knights, no Dailami (all) and no Arab Conquest armies to be used.
Pool 3 – 1101 AD to 1500 AD (450pts), no Dailami, maximum of 4 Almughavars/Catalans, maximum of 4 Swiss Pike and a maximum of 14 pike in total.

Each team must choose a player for each pool/period and that player will only play in the same pool/period throughout the competition.
Each player uses the same army throughout.

5 FOW and double moves are both On.

6 I will not take part, unless I am a last minute reserve. It would be best for players to communicate amongst themselves about making a team. Once the team has been organised the captain can then pm me with team name, players and who plays in what pool.

I would be up for this! Since I have missed out on Rex's ANZAC outfit, may I propose a new team? I'm of part French ancestry, learned a bit of the language at school (but don't test me too much, particularly not with current slang!), something of a Francophile. I therefore suggest ...

La Grande Armée
(or alternatively Les Grognards?)

For anyone who:
(a) is French or part-French;
(b) would like to have been French;
(c) hums La Marseillaise in the shower;
(d) thinks the men of la Garde Impériale are the best-dressed troops of all time; or
(e) eats croissants.

Under the circumstances, we would have to field Medieval or Ordonnance French in the high Middle Ages.

Anyone interested?

Macsen and I are starting a Canadian team, no consensus yet on name. We need a third, preferably someone related to Canada in some way and somewhat lower in rank.

Vive L'Empereur!

I'd like to join the French team.
1)I eat croissants
2) My alarm for almost 30 years was Mirielle Mattieus(?) rendition of the "Marseilleis"(?)Honest!
3) I passed French in college

Guys guys. Next we will be organising "country" teams based on you saw a film about France:) As many of us are WASP, it means we probably have our roots in Germany and no you can not form a German team, unless you live in that country:) Then again we all, allegedly come from Ethiopia, I think.

Londo what country do you live in, as I will add it to 5th post. Similar time zones is OK to form teams. The east coast of Canada has an identical time zone (+ or - 1 hour) as the east coast of the USA.

The only French player I know of is dvorkin and he is stationed in Africa and can not play.

Thanks fallow gemers

Take note

Pool 3 – 1101 AD to 1500 AD (450pts), no Dailami, maximum of 4 Almughavars/Catalans, maximum of 4 Swiss Pike and a maximum of 14 pike in total.

Pointed out by Sabratha, I missed that one, otherwise you could have wall to wall Swiss.

Well, I did see a film about France once, you know! Great building they have there, the Colosseum ...

OK, I'm Australian by place of birth and current residence. If there's enough players from Down Under for a second team then I'll join it, otherwise I'm not sure where I'd fit.

Peterabb is in Australia I understand and Turk has yet to put his hand up but he maybe reasonably busy already, Claymore's mate Gazatrix is also an Aussie, or you could approach Pantherboy who is Japan (or was last time I heard)
