Early german basing

Hello everybody!

I'm looking forward to FoG, I've never played DBM but have quite some DBA armies and now 'm going to enlarge some of them so I can get into FoG once its released. My question is:

DBA early germans use either 3wb or 4wb (so either 3 minis on a 20mm deep base or 4 on a 15mm deep one). How will FoG handle this? I'm gonna re-base all my germans soon and dont want to end up with an unplayable army... Do I need the 3 or 4 basing - or maybe even both?

Also it would be interesting to know just about how many stands of normal infantry and skirmishers I'm gonna need for an 800 points army. I read that greeks would need some 40-50 hoplite bases, how about early german warriors?

Would be nice if anyone could help me,
have a nice evening!

OK,

A standard FoG tournament army will be 800 points but games with less points are still great fun. Most of the army lists will have a starter army listed, the starter armies are 600 points.

Early Germans can be either medium foot (3 or 4 to a 20mm deep base) or heavy foot (4 to a 15mm deep base). Batavian or Cherusci warriors are medium foot, other warriors are heavy foot.

Early Germans get:
upto 12 bases of cavalry (3 figures to a 30mm deep base) or light horse (2 figures) but the light horse are only available to the Tencteri. The cavalry are 12 points each, light horse are 7.
loads and loads and loads of warriors as discussed. Warriors cost 7 points a base.
upto 12 bases of light infantry archers (2 to a base, or DBA Ps) at 5 points a base
upto 16 bases of light infantry javelinmen at 4 points a base.
all armies can have upto 4 generals and a normal spend on generals is between 120 and 150 points total.

There are a few other options for specific campaigns but the above is the core of the army.

Thanks for that superb answer! That really helped alot and you also answered the question I forgot to ask (smaller armies :))

Now I've got a bit to do until february I guess...

Oh, one more little question: those light javelinmen, are they based 3 figures to a 20mm deep base?

Thank you!
I'm busy re-basing now. Found out that my single-based germans will make some 40-50 warrior stands, 10 skirmishers and 10 javelinmen. February is saved.
