Extended Purisits?

A unit of cavalry passing through/pursing and on the first part of the pass though/pursing contacts and routes another unit ( flank assault, breaks on contact), rolls pursuit in the first half of that pursuit contacts another unit breaks that . rolls another pursuit move ... etc

The Rules say if another is contacted in the first half , that is fought immediately but that leads to a second pursuit? How do you handle combats arising from this 2nd pursuit move?

I also had a case in my last game were a unit cavalry passed through broke some limbered guns contacted in the first half of the pass through (already disordered, hit in flank) I let my opponent roll a second pursuit which them contacted some infantry in flank , with 2 mu, infantry, they broke at contact, leading to a third pursuit move, is this possible (not the first two units contacting broke on contact (wavering hit in flank) so no actual combat took place)

We have never given a unit more than 1 pursuit move in a combat phase.

Note page 25, top left, 2nd bullet: Repeat these three steps only once for pursuing units if allowed.

As much as we would all love to pursue away through our opponents army you can only pursue into a new target once. After you hit the second unit in the first half of the turn regardless of outcome moves you just stand there and hi five each other on a job well done

So in this case , is the passing thru of the square a pursuit ?

So the limbered guns are hit , they rout , then the infantry can be hit as it's first pursuit ? Or do you stop after hitting the guns after the pass thru ?

I would stop after hitting the guns.

Ah you're right ,

p 66 " the distance moved... is treated as a pursuit move in all other respects " .

So the bullet on p25 applies and only the guns are hit .

Unless I've missed or forgotten something, there is no restriction on the number of times you can pursue into another target - The restriction is on the number of combats you can have.
Page 66: "Only one additional combat can take place".
