I wanna schedule the mercury uncrewed mission. But it is not possible because all my astronauts are currently in advanced training. Is it reasonable that I need an astronaut for such kind of mission or just a bug?

This is not a bug. The uncrewed missions in Mercury and Gemini need an astronaut in the Ground Team.
