Buying Advice

Happy Holidays, all!

I'm trying to decide if I should pick up Panzer Corps Wehrmacht during the holiday sale. What I'm wondering is if the Grand Campaign covers the same subject matter, albeit in much greater detail. If so, I might pick that up instead (even though it's not on sale :().

P.S. - Another contender is The Operational Art of War III, but I'm not sure if that might be too hard core for me ;)

Grand Campaign is a DLC content for Panzer Corps so it needs the basic game (PC Wehrmacht) or one of the two standalone expansion (Afrika Korps or Allied Corps) to be able to run. So unless you already own one of the expansions the answer is you will need one of the three first.

The Grand Campaign has more detail, but it follows a historical path (with some slight branches such as a breakout from Stalingrad). The Wehrmacht Campaign has many more branches, such as Operation Sealion, Moscow in 1943 and an invasion of the USA! I think that the Wehramcht campaign is your better choice, but it is up to you still.

In case you own AK already i personally think getting GC would be better. After you played the improved and scripted missions in AK going back to the quite basic vanilla campaign, which is most about racing the clock imho, will be a bit painful. On the other hand PC Wehrmacht is currently discounted so you may as well use the offer and grab the Grand Campaign at a later point. In the end whatever you chose PC Wehrmacht or Grand Campaign you will have fun with both. :)

It is also possible to download loads of free mods made by other players. I am currently working on a WWI mod, that will be released in 2014. Those are a good idea when you are done with the official content. Note that they aren't official, but are fun none the less!
