Any chances of PzC coming to Linux?

This subject was touched upon before, but a lot has changed since that time. PzC has been greenlighted on Steam. While Steam's linux usage has been growing slowly, the beta of SteamOS (based on Debian Linux) and first test Steam Machines running it have just been shipped. This will no doubt increase the number of Linux gaming machines by a huge factor in the upcoming year. Still the genre, which PzC is an example of, is under-represented on LInux, its best example being Unity of Command. Maybe this is a good time to consider a Linux port?

Right now?
Waste of time.
MAYBE the Steam-box will finally help it get some true market share, but whether or not this will be the case remains to be seen. As it stands, install base is way, WAY too low to make it a sensible investment.
At least IMO.

The share of operating systems doesn't matter. At all. The vast majority of people having PC are not interested in games like PzC. Look at Humble indie bundle stats, those that are fully LInux compatible, Linux buyers can reach a significant number of sales. Simply the group is interested in buying games, and I like I said there are almost no games like this for Linux. Plus - it is a move for the future. Steam Machines will change the percentages significantly, nobody can predict how much, but in a year's time the situation will be very different from now.

Not at the moment. Porting the engine was a lot of time and effort and the team have other things they need to do work on right now including Steam etc.

Thanks for the answer Ian, I hope you will consider this in the future.

Yes it does? If the share of Linux was, like 20% or something, then maybe disproportionate interest for PzC-like games (which I don't really see in the first place) MIGHT make the investment worthwile, but otherwise ... Linux desktop market share is just too low.
MAYBE the situation will be different a year from now, but whether or not it will be "VERY different" remains to be seen.
But you got your official reply.
Is there no longer something like Wine (or how the thingy that allowed you to play windows games on Linux was called) around?

Is does not matter in the sense it does not translate directly to game sales on a given platform. In the example of HiB Linux users were more than once 20% of the revenue.
Wine exists, but PzC does not work correctly with it. Plus it is not really a solution.
