HI THERE, I'm a newbie and have a few questions!

Ok, I havn't got Spartan yet, but I'm defininately going to get it in a few days. When I saw there was a statedgy game on ancient Greece, I nearly dropped dead. I love playing around the Greek area in stratedgy games and I can't wait to get my hands dug into Spartan.
So here are my questions:
1 I live in Australia and was just wondering if there were any other Aussies registered to this forum.
2 I believe all factions are playable except 2 or 3. Am I correct?
3 Should I buy Gates of Troy and install it after Spartan and the patch right away or should I play Spartan for a while before I install Gates of Troy?
4 I've realised in screenshots that cities don't have walls or defensive structures- is this true? if so it must be the only downside to the game 'cos everything else is truly awesome!!!
......and it's my birthday tomorrow! whoohoo!

Welcome!
1 I live in Australia and was just wondering if there were any other Aussies registered to this forum.
>>> There are quite a few Aussies & New Zealanders around.
2 I believe all factions are playable except 2 or 3. Am I correct?
>>> The only factions you cant play are the barbarians uprisings & off map invasions (though in Gates of Troy we've even allowed you to control the Roman & Persian invasions!)
3 Should I buy Gates of Troy and install it after Spartan and the patch right away or should I play Spartan for a while before I install Gates of Troy?
>>> Its really up to you. Gates of Troy adds new features such as a zoom to the campaign map & the ability to create vassals through diplomacy. You can play teh Spartan scenarios through the improved Gates of Troy engine, as the two games link together.
4 I've realised in screenshots that cities don't have walls or defensive structures- is this true? if so it must be the only downside to the game 'cos everything else is truly awesome!!!
>>> You get city walls & they appear in battles, but due to the way the city system worked we couldn't add them graphically to the city screen.

Welcome new forum user!
I hope you have many happy hours playing the game.
Iain of course has replied to your questions, so I will just add one thing to the last about the walls. Sparta cannot build walls at all. They have human walls that hurt very much the enemy.

OK, I am available tuesday, wednesday, and thursday of this coming week.
Please keep in mind that I live in the western USA, so I am GMT -7 for another 10 days or so, then we go off daylight savings time, and I'll be GMT -8.
Let's do it
Oh, and that bust you're using as a sig there, of the guy with the cool mustachios. Is that Vecintogetorix?

In terms of general temperament, we Californians are not that different from the Oz, especially those from Western Australia.
Although we
do generally prefer tequila to gin

I am GMT + 1....so that makes a difference of 8 hours. I could play between 4 PM GMT to 8 PM GMT on Tuesday...maybe the same the other 2 evenings.
Yes, it's Vercing?©torix

We're invited for dinner this friday...
I could have some free time on monday-tuesday. However, as we are moving, the best would maybe be at the beginning of November...
Cheers

Kinda makes you wish you were a kid again, organising gaming sessions was so much easier back then

ROFL, OK, early november it is.
Sorry I blew it this time.
Hey, with a h2h game like this, can we save and resume it later? Or does it all have to be done in one session?
You want to just start with that Crete scenario? or prefer Lesbos?
