Economic Victory lols

I accidentally got one because I was fighting hives and kicking them out of the way.
I like how I win it even when I'm losing money at the moment. :P

Well that happened because I just sent an large group of steel avengers towards another continent to prepare it for settlement xD

Economic victory happened in mechanization era. I researched like three techs or so and won the economic victory.. Alien Aggression is set to very high as I said I would in last thread I made. <_<

Here's the screenshots if you want to see it..
Looks like this forum don't have spoiler tags?
I'll just give the url then unless the pics is minimized in this forum?

This screenshot is warning announcement that Imperium is on verge of becoming economic superpower. I disregarded it and kept on doing what I was doing before, clearing the land for settlements.

And then the turn where I won the game.

My military and economy is rated at 5 stars, every other stat was at 4 or 3 i think.
The demographics.. http://tinypic.com/r/2yjxawl/5

I want to make sure, is it intended that someone can get a economic victory from blasting the hives?

Because I'm a type of person who prefers to hoard the gold forever until I really have to spend them. I will just hardbuild everything.
Gold only gets spent on rushing if I MUST have it now. aka enemies is knocking on my front door and I want even more units so I can feel comfortable.

Wow that was a quick win well done

This is clearly a gap in the economic victory system.

I really wish there would be a way of monitoring the victory progress of other factions. I had a game as the morganite faction where I suddenly had a message that the solar dynasty was about to win a research victory. That had me scrambled in a precocious war against them and I finally got a military win but each turn I had no idea if the game would suddenly stop with their science victory... it would be nice to have a clearer vision on things.

Another thing I don't get : The only info the game gives you is that you need to get at 75% of research/economy/world population to win the game. So far I only had military wins, but those were not achieved a 75%. It's only when I hit the 100% that the game stopped which was weird as in all cases i had not conquered all the map, generally had one other faction left so i couldnt be at 100% world pop.

Have somebody figured out how exactly the victory conditions for each military/science/economics works?

Economic victory depends on you being able to buy out all the other factions' possessions, so it only matters how big they have got, how many buildings, units etc. I don't think it's intended to win it so early in the tech tree though :) Your opponents must have been having some alien problems or fighting each other a lot.

What size map and level are you playing?

The condition is that you need 75% of all techs, all pop or value of economy to win the game. The progress indicator tells you how close you are to reaching that 75% condition. So you have 74% of the techs, it will tell you that you're 99% of the way there. Similarly if the military progress indicator says you're 50% achieved, you've got 37.5% of the population.

Hope that makes sense!

Hotfixed the buyout modifier back to 0.25. Economic victory should be more reasonable now.

Well Boulugre, the difficulty is set to medium but Alien Aggression is set to very high.

And SephiRok, what exactly does the buyout modifier set to 0.25 does? I dont' know very much about pandora yet xD
And here is the link to the save, I have no idea if other AIs is doing well or not, although they're doing better than usual, Solar Dynasty was getting wiped out all the time by xenomorhs with alien aggression set to medium but this time with aliens set to very high, they're still alive somehow xD

Your save game just about broke my poor laptop - guess I won't be playing any Huge games!

It's hard to tell without seeing but by 2127 a Very Hard game would be well into the Transcendence Era, if not already over. Looking at the Military graph there was a lot of action but not much coordinated - so it could have been a lot of fighting aliens instead of each other. Maybe High alien aggression on Huge maps is a recipe for weak AI factions.

Ouch, I'm sorry about that fortydayweekend :(

I recently started 2nd game and this time, it lasted until almost end of transcedence era, well, only because I was researching stuff at 1 tech a turn.
Got myself an scientific victory.

I don't know, AIs seem like they can do ok on even very high alien aggression with medium difficulty.
Solar Dynasty died off early, I have almost whole world explored, I can't find the remains of their improvements so I"m guessing they got killed by an opposing faction not xenomorphs this time around.

Then how I won an scientific victory you say? Well you see..
Divine Ascendsion faction went berserk and wiped Terra Salvum out, then I went nuts because it meant the continent that I'm on is now half controlled by them with me controlling 1/4 and other 1/4 is currently empty wilderness.
Pumped out as much Serenity tanks as I could on avenger hulls. The war was mixed bag of success, plus I found it really encouraging to dow divine ascension because Noxium/Torga was both furious at Divine.

Divine ascension was actually winning the war against noxium/torga until I joined in and traded blows with me taking 80% of Terra Salvum cities into my hands stopping a runaway cold. But both of us took so much causalities that AI decided to ask me for peace I was like ok.

At this point I was basically in permanent mineral shortage until I got warp mineral facilities built. Had lots of Photon Demolisher tanks and fought defensively with flak avenger/demolishers supporting.

Noxium/Torga was still berserk proving plenty of distraction with their cannon fodder soldiers which actually helped my tanks alot because they was having trouble fighting without sacrifical units. Basically shaved about maybe 30 turns off my planned offensive.

Then divine ascension just broke down and spammed nothing but colonial troopers and prescedion something troopers. Which made it really easy to mop her up, I think she finally started to suffer badly from mineral shortage now with me rolling in minerals. xD

Thank god I used the temporary ceasefire to prepare for 2nd war which was initated by Divine ascension not me. Otherwise it probably would've gone badly for me because I was having trouble building demolisher type tanks with 1st gen factories :P

Despite using Civ 4 style of combat, I think its really well done, you can't really make a stack of doom or attract the attention of orbital rain of LULZ Does a way better job than artillery suicide for stack damage because Orbital linkup of Lulz only requires you to build the structure then its' all based on cooldown. I found myself actively avoiding big stacks unless I really have to like defending my fortress city which was kinda isolated because I wanted all that mountains for minerals plus gold. :P

And I learned how awesome Refit system is, my obsolete level 10 steel avengers became useful again by upgrading them to demolishers.

Its awesome, AIs actually cooperate and do battles with you unlike in Civ 4 xD Which is likely the result of such combat design style in pandora. I was staring at one isolated city and knew i didn't have enough serenity tanks to suicide on it. But I saw a bunch of Noxium colonial soldiers eagerly waiting for me to sacrifice my six serenity tanks to take the city. So I did that. And Noxium got the city, I have no complaints. :D

And the fact that Noxium and Torga kept on praising me and showering me with gifts, so I returned the favor and took them off my kill list. And the gifts made me happy enough to sacrifice my serenity tanks just like that. Because otherwise I would've just retreated and came back with better troop arrangement, all my supports got killed off XD
