Is there an interest in this subject matter outside of the US? Have you bought any civil war games or would you in the future. A developer friend of ours is interested in selling games to Europe, but we don't know how big the period/setting is over here.

Yes Iain,
I like very much the civil war games.
Especially the ones in which you may control/custom the weapon allocation (rifle quality), and production.
cheers,
Pyros
p.s is this something turn-based or real-time?

It's actually a battle game, not a campaign game, so no production.

Well, I like the setting very much for a game, since UMS and a bit later North and South (Infogrames).
I avoided some of the grand strategy games set on that setting because they usualy were too lousy designed (GUI), or just boring as games. Yes I know I said I played and like UMS.
The Gettysburg game (Sid's) I played and finished in like a day or so and found it very easy, so I stopped playing it after about a week or less. If the game has a lot of replayability, freedom and nice graphics (I am sick of bad graphics), be it top perspective Grisby's like games, or Legion Arena like it doesn't matter as long as they are good graphics.
So, to sum it up, I would not buy such a game that has a limited amount of scenarios with limited replayability and bad graphics. BUT, that goes for all games no matter what the setting.

It's one of my favorite time period.
I have the DVD's of "Gods and Generals" and "Gettysburg" at home.
Civil War: Robert E. Lee was one of my first games and i still play Civil War: Generals (1997) on a regular basis. I will buy American Conquest: Divided Nation in November which deals with that time period.
So i may well buy another good game of the period....

Anguille, if you are referring to the game being produced by Matrix Games, it actually deals with the present/near future and a United States fragmented into several different factions.
