Quite a long time ago I remember being able to play BA hot-seat. To do this you could accept your own challenge.
I don't seem to be able to do this anymore.

I did it this morning. Sometimes it does fail though

Not sure what you mean by fail. I can't see my own challenges in the accept-challenges window.

Cancel that - it was hiding away. But I can't pick up the challenge.

Are you using the hotseat script in your main user.txt file?

Can you be a bit more specific about the path and script.

Go to your USER.txt file in Documents\My Games\BBCBA
Open with Notepad and add the line ALLOWMPHOTSEAT 1

That worked - thanks!
Now that folder was empty before I added that script - any other useful stuff that should be in there?

Arminius, would you mind educating a simpleton non tech guy such as myself? Why would you want to play against yourself?

I do this to test user scenarios that need to be tested

When you are designing scenarios there is no way to even run through basic force on force tests in Campaign mode. You must play one side or another. So to spot check for errors with the map, force pool, reinforcements for a side or whatever, you need to PBEM against yourself, as there is no hotseat function.

I never play against myself (no point, as you say, when you have real people to play via the sever).
But occasionally I like to play against another person using the same computer (you know - mate, beer, shouting).
That's what the term "hot seat" means.

I also use the Hotseat option to test out my MP designs. It is the only way to check out your work.
I will say this too: in years of experience as a Scenario Designer for another company we found that 75 percent of the customers prefer solo play to head to head. And if the AI is weak (which it is in most games) playing against yourself can actually be a stimulating experience. ESPECIALLY for us older guys who are losing their memory! I have often played out one of my game designs against myself to try out different things. The trick is to not go back to the game right away - give yourself a good day before you do another move. Or in my case ... maybe an hour or so! LOL
Just do your best to forget where you moved the "other side's" forces so you are not simply reacting to your own move. Watch the replay but do not act as if you know where the other guy's forces are ... just because you moved them there.

I remember, Old Warrior.

I miss Wild Bill as well (BANZAI!).
AIs are always horrible, and the numbers are now down to 65% in some studies in this niche hobby (technology easing MP play).
