It would be nice if the airport was to be build building (not just graphics). You could then use this in the X-15 missions (missions could begin only when to be built the airport).

We can do that, but the way I see it it just adds a few more extra clicks with no real gameplay value. We know you cannot skip the X-15, so there's no real decision to be made by the player other than go ahead and build it.

Notice that, even though we do exactly that for Mission Control, the Astronauts Center and the VAB, there's some value behind those actions since we want the player to be aware of the existence of those buildings, as they have an impact in gameplay by limiting the amount of personnel that can be hired.

Ok But could also exploit the airport to other things - as, for instance training astronauts (without airports would not be able to perform advanced training - aka after employment astronaut is carried on basic training, to an advanced training airport would be needed.) Maybe I too confusing things - it's just a suggestion

Maybe an upgrade should be required for the Space Shuttle program / Buran-Energia, in Episode 2. The runway at KSC is one of the longest and widest of the world, and the one used in Russia for Buran was even a bit longer if I remember well. Also specific equipements are required to land that kind of spaceplanes in the best safety conditions, like specific approach radars & devices, areas for decontamination of hydrazine tanks, hangars for maintenance of the Shuttles, etc...
