Tonight I updated SPM from .73 to .75 on my XP computer. When I click the PLAY SPM button at the splash screen, I get a blank black screen. I can hear the intro, but get no video. So I removed the program, reinstalled, and it worked again as before. Then I updated again to .75, and same black screen.

Oddly, the update didn't affect how the game runs in Wine on my Ubuntu box. It opens and I can start a game, but when I hit End Turn, it won't accept a YES answer. As far as I recall that's also how it behaved pre-update.

Strange thing - in terms of version 0.7.5+ I noticed that there is a dead pixel exactly on center of the screen, and only during the intro. When the main menu appears everything is okay. (dead pixel disappears)

Maybe something has changed with the intro file - so that does not work on XP, and on my windows 7 in intro is a dead pixel.

Update: I've downloaded and installed version .76, but it's acting the same--both in XP and in Wine.

Sad to hear the game is still not working for you. Can you send me your "output_log.txt" file located under the SPM-Windows_Data subfolder? That might give us a clue of what's going on.

Try updating the drivers for your graphics card. If that doesn't work give me a shout and we'll continue working on it until we sort it out.

Thanks Nacho. I've updated the graphics drivers, and installed the latest version of SPM, but it's still doing the same thing. I've attached my latest output file, in case it helps.

unfortunately your machine is well below the minimum spec for the game. You only have a 128 MB graphics card and the min spec is 256 MB. It must be 10 or more years old.

The only way you can run the game is to upgrade your graphics card.

Well that would explain it. My main computer is a Linux box, so I've been using my kids' hand-me-down computer. Thanks for your time on this, Nacho.
