Phoenix Club Glasgow - Moving and Recruiting

The Phoenix Glasgow wargames club [hosts of Wappinshaw] is moving. Our premises, run by the SPK association of Polish ex-servicemen was shut down without warning a couple of weeks ago!

From Tuesday the 19th of November at 1830, we will shift to a new venue at the Partick Burgh Hall.

We were bursting the seams at the Polish Club, but the silver lining of us being discommoded is that we now have a far larger space and can therefore recruit. We play all sorts of games, but the balance are historical toy soldier games.

Membership fees for the next 6 months are £50/£10. There would be no expectation that you would pay up until you'd had a few trial runs.

If you are interested then feel free to turn up. If a bit shy or unsure, don't hesitate to get in touch here or via the Wappinshaw blog - http://wappinshaw.blogspot.co.uk/2013/1 ... g-and.html

Hunter,

There have been sporadic games of FoG. I have a few armies myself but I've been playing more Impetus recently. Don't recall any FoGR games, though I know a few people are interested in it. In short - we could probably get you a game quite often if you were willing to be pro-active in recruiting/training/umpiring.

Thanks Midpoint.
I'm in Perth myself but we have a very active FOG circuit complete with a scottish league and various weekend competitions. The GDWS play in this and so do the West Lothian and Elgin clubs. Next year we hope to be welcomng the Falkirk club to the fold. We have a competition at the weekend in Perth with those clubs represented and friends coming up from south of the wall. You're very welcome to pop up for a look see and some lunch if you are free either day.

Midpoint, just want to echo Hunters comments. I'm in GDWS and organise the Scottish League series of tournaments (FoG-AM and FoG-R). If there is interest at your club you would be welcome at these events. And I'm sure we could drum up people to help you learn the rules and tactics.
