Calling out the icon collectors

Hey guys - I called out to the forums to get back my own Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe, and sure enough, people were kind enough to help me - thanks again folks!
But these were not the only icons I lost in my HD crash - I lost most everything I had collected.
Some things are still available in the various threads on this forum, other things have since gone offline, their authors disappeared and thus these icons are lost in the mists of time.
I know Flakfernrohr had an impressive collection of unit icons - but sadly I have lost contact with him - if anyone still is in touch, please let me know how I can reach him.
Do we have any other avid collectors?

What I'm planning on doing:
Many modders have come and gone now making icons of varying quality, using a variety of techniques, some great, some .. less so (I'm referring to some of my own, mostly!).
We now have seen icons for a variety of equipment that's not in the vanilla game - though some ended up being added in official updates.
But finding an individual unit can be a tough task.
So I'd like to make an "index" thread, not unlike the SWotL one, listing all the different units and the different icons available for them. Links and Unit Stats should be provided if possible/abailable.
That'd be a lot of work, naturally, but as I want such unit directory for myself ...
Now all that I'm missing is some of the actual icons.
For example, icons I had and lost were those created by Puma, who seems to have long disappeared from the PzC modding scene - his threads at DMP are deserted, all units gone.
But there are others. I managed to scrape together a number of icons, but to make the master index as useful as possible, the more icons, the better.

TLDR: If you have a largeish collection of unit icons you are willing to share, drop me a PM and help create the master index.

Thanks everyone in advance.

Nice initiative.

I'm not so much a collector of whole sets by everyone, but maybe I can help out with stuff I selectively dl-ed in case someone is missing a specific unit from a certain creator.

Otherwise I can only offer my own stuff.... ;)

I have most of the icons and they are balanced tested in the AT and AA Mod.

Unfortunately there are too many icons and you can not use them all.
In that case... I have several in reserve.

I still have not backed them up to my portable drive... even though they are on two different drives now.

PM me and you can be another back up.

What I a missing ... Guille has.

Unfortunately.. I do not have all of Puma's icons but I have several.

Sharing is what it is all about.

Rezaf: If you like I can make a compressed file with all of the icons of the collection I compiled for my mod in the working and send it to you... Included are all of the icons made by me, by Asuser, and several other modders. I have also some (little) of the icons by Flakfernrohr. Also I sent you a PM.

Quite some effort with the "Grand Armory"

Just wondering how to preserve the uploaded pics for long - you know, often free image hosters delete them after a certain period of time, then they would be lost...

I suppose having an account with a picture hosting site, like imgur would be a good option. It would be dreadfull to see all the posted units to vanish in thin air.

Thanks for the encouraging words everyone.

Losing the images is of course possible long-term ... maybe a mod can run a search-replace on the thread at that point?
For now, my main interest was in being able to batch-upload a number of images at a time...

I'm a little exhausted now and am going to take a little break - I think all vanilla german units are now accounted for, with the exception of some generic stuff such as forts or trains.
I'll take some time off before continuing with the British...

I am afraid i don't understand what you mean. Could you explain more in detail and if it's within my powers here i will be happy to help you out.

I am afraid batch upload of images requires a major change in the code the boards are based on and is way out of the power of us poor moderators. Maybe one of the board admins find some time to have a look how much work it would require.

Attention everyone: If some of you folks need to upload or back-up the icons presente in the "Multipurpose Units Mod" thread... I uploaded a pack with the up-to-date stuff.

The link is in the first, and last (at present) post of said thread... Also I copy it here:

Were these in a campaign?

Were they in the North African Graphics pack?

Just a quick headsup: I haven't abandoned the Grand Armory already, but I spent much time on a tool that will hopefully help me automate a lot of work in the future, so some more time will go by before I'll continue. Stay tuned.

@Tarrak: Once the links are gone, the entire thread - in the end hundreds of posts - will have to be edited and all links replaced with working links again. Doing this manually will probably take a long time and be a lot work - mods with sufficient permissions should be able to do a search/replace on an entire thread, which would greatly speed up the process.
About multi-uploads, multi-uploading to the forums is already possible, but from what I understand you cannot "manually" access these uploads, placing stuff where you want it to have, no?
Naturally, the BEST option would be some actual webspace, so if you can convince someone at Slitherine to donate a few megs...
But I'll make do either way.

Ah i understand now but sadly not even the search and replace is within my power here or at least i haven't figured out how to do it but i strongly suspect the first is the case. Usually to do that you need a direct access to the underlaying database of the forum. Us mortal moderators do not have it. You will need the help of the bigger powers here. :)

Ah well, thanks for making that clear Tarrak.
You guys have given me some food for thought and I am trying to further simplify the work neccessary to create and maintain the Grand Armory (which is why it is suspended for a few days) - hopefully I'll end up successful, in which case admin help will hopefully not be necessary.
Thanks again.

So, let me know how you feel about the new format/content of "The Grand Armory".

I only finished Germany so far, and it was a tremendous amount of work. You'll see why, I guess, I'll post everything in the near future.

Thats really a nice overview. :D

BTW:
There are two mistakes,
the two "Panther G - M10 Ersatz" are only reskinned by me. The creator is "T2_2112"
"Sturmgrenadiere.png" and "Sturmpio_Land.png" is not by churchlakecity there are made by puma.
