Just to show you what a friend of mine from Portugal did for his ambush markers. Of course this restricts their use to a single army, in this case Carthaginian, but they do look good, don't they?

I think this will spark some interesting little dioramas. Combine this with some matching terrain and we could start to have some visual appeal creeping in:-)
