Terrain and Visibility

Hi,

Some quick questions about terrain and visibility on pages 79-80.

When it says that "in some cases light foot can see out but not be seen", wouldn't this also apply to other types of troop as well, e.g. any troops not more than 4MUs within a plantation or 2 MUs within a forest or village?

It also says that "terrain blocks line of sight beyond the visibility distances specified above". For plantation and forest it specifically specifies that troops beyond these cannot be seen. Should this also apply to villages?

And finally, does impassable terrain like extremely steep hills block line of sight?

Cheers,

Steve

You really need an official response from the authors but I play it that the placing player defines the feature.

So if its impassable because it's a lake - it doesn't block LOS.

If it's an extremely steep hill then it blocks LOS as a steep hill does.

Agreed. And it really isn't a massive issue in FoG as (for the sake of simplicity) Command Ranges are not affected by LoS.

Possible, but if the rules don't say so.....

No, because (in our view) villages are mostly gardens etc. You can see between the houses.

This, of course, is not true for every era and locality but KISS - life is too short.
