Last game experience

I haven't had a lot of time to play during the week due to obligations, but I have just had a match as Divine Ascendancy which ended in defeat.
Since last game ended too easily, I decided to play on medium and work more aggressively.
I started near a desert on a small island and some mineral resources. Exploration of the island revealed three other resources I could use.
Soon I was also making contact with other factions. It always seems to me that they are faster to find me than the reverse. As I wanted to play aggressively, I avoided making pacts with all factions.
Exploration also revealed other islands and their factions. One of those was occupied by the Solar Dynasty and had some untapped resources that I wanted. They had to build a city there first, however, so I decided to make that my first attack. I managed to grab the city with my new tanks, but their army was better and I barely held my ground before they accepted my peace offer (too easily, I think).
After some time rebuilding, I tried to do the same trick with Togra University, which had create two cities in my island, but I wasn't so lucky. I miscalculated how many tanks I would need, so I captured one city, while the other resisted. Soon they captured the closest of my cities, then they started attacking me and after some turn pushing back and forth Solar Dynasty decided it would get their revenge. I could not fight two factions at the same time and was soon swarmed by troops. When I had almost lost everything most factions decided it would be good to pillage me and declared war against me. There ended my reign of religion.
