Will there be any distinction between Heavy and Light cruisers in this game? Both had distinct characteristics and were important during the war. Same goes with light aircraft carriers and destroyer escorts. Furthermore will there be minefields that ships would have to navigate or minesweepers would have to clean up? Also is there a new list coming up as there was no update last week?
For the remaining sea units it would be nice to see for the U.S.
CVL
Independence Class
CVE
Bogue class instead of Avenger

Brooklyn Class
Atlanta Class
Cleveland Class

Alaska Class

We've decided to focus on heavy cruisers and place them in the "anti-destroyer" escorting role. Light Cruisers might be added later, but we have to prioritise
Minefields (both land & naval) will be present in the game. Engineers can place and clear landmines. Whether we will also have a naval minelaying & sweeping unit is not yet decided (given the short amount of time covered by naval scenarios it probably doesn't make sense to focus on this).
Currently the following japanese Carriers have been produced:
CV
Ryūjō Class
Hiryū Class
Shōkaku Class
Unryū Class
Shinano Class
CVE
Taiyo Class
BCV
Ise Class
And to make up for the lack of an update last friday, he's a shot from the Jap carrier types

Wasn't the Ryūjō Class a light aircraft carrier class? Also what is being planned for the differences for the CVE's and CV's in regards to aircraft and refueling? Will only certain planes be able to refuel and rearm from the carriers?
It is sad that you said there is a short amount of time covered by naval scenarios. The Pacific War was decided on those naval scenarios and I thought would be fully felt. Such as if you lose a naval scenario as the U.S. say Battle of Santa Cruz than it would limit the amount of ships available to support Guadalcanal or even let the Japanese have more reinforcements or ships available in Guadalcanal etc.
Thank you for your quick response in my last post and I hope to hear more. This game looks great so far.

As for the carriers, Ryūjō is a light carrier indeed. My bad

You know your ships Sir.
Only naval (carrier based) aircraft will be able to draw supply from carriers, while land based types need to stay within range of airfields.

This is definitely the case in the game. Results from one scenario will affect when happens in the next.
What I was trying to say is that the naval battle scenarios focus on the
battles themselves (which usually lastest a couple of days at best), not on "daily business" such as laying and clearing minefields, thus limiting the usefulness of a specialised minesweeper unit.

I have been reading about the ships of the U.S. and Japan and the naval battles for most of my life. It is a passion of mine. So when I found out about this game in production, I was very excited as you could imagine.
Thank you for clarifying my scenario questions. Looks to be a great game. Can't wait to see the other units being added and more screenshots. Maybe an I-400?

Another quick question. I know the SeaBees were a big part of the pacific theatre in WW2. Any chance they will be in the game? If so would they have a special ability to maybe create and airfield? Just a thought.
The Japanese were also great night fighters on both land and sea. Would they get a bonus for night battles?

Seabees are in the game as a cheap alternative to Engineers but without the combat capacities of the latter. They speed up entrenchment of adjacent units, and have special abilities such as laying & clearing minefields, constructing bridges etc.
There is no day/night distinction in the game, but Japs do have access to a series of twin-engine heavy fighters such as the Toryu and Gekko which excel against bombers and ground targets.

Type 100 O-I - For the Win - love that you are putting in prototypes and such. Are you open to some other suggestions for units at this point?

Definitely! Even if they don't make it in the first release, extra content will be added over the following patches/expansions/DLC. There were lots of interesting weapons that existed only in very small numbers or didn't leave prototype stage but would spice up the gameplay.

Starting off some of the infantry units - special forces, irregular soldiers recommendations:
Giretsu Kuteitai - Airborne Special Operations Forces, hardcore infiltrators often to their own peril
Teishin Shudan - Same as above, members of the Army/Air Force Special Operations Forces
Rikusentai - Marine components and subordinate to the Special Naval Landing Forces who ran their amphibious operations, i.e., storming and assaulting the beachheads
Takasago Giyūtai - Taiwanese aborigines, think guerrilla warfare, their version of Gurkhas, they were part of the Kaoru Special Attack Corps - suicide and clandestine missions

A few of those are alraedy on the list, but we'll look into the rest as well. Thanks.
Still not certain if we'll use the Japanese names or more generic "Japanese Paratroopers/Commandos" etc. The Jap names are cool but leaningless for most people. Although I guess the same is true for PzC's "Gebirgsjäger" etc if you don't understand a bit of German.

Thought about the naming convention as we'll, probably would keep them in Japanese - it's consistent with how the ground, air and naval units are named if you think about. The only differences for bombers, we often use the NATO designator after their official title, and Japanese tanks often have "Type" in their precursor titles. Speaking of ships, what about the Fubuki Class Destroyer, it was by far one of the more popular ships in the Japanese fleet.
