Ionian Revolt Subsidies.

Hi all,
I just started my first try on this scenario and I wonder if/when the revolters will receive money from Athens.
AFAIR correctly, Athenians gave for a period practically all their state cash to the revolters in RL.
As you understand from this post, I have no trouble(as yet...) with beating the snot out of the Persians in the field, but soon I will not have any silver left to pay my men...
BTW, any tips for this scenario? I considered to siege Sardes ASAP in the beginning, but can`t pay field costs for my armies.
Rgds, Oldtimer

You'll get some pleasant surprises from Greece, don't worry...I won't spoilt it.
Be patient, build your forces. You're in revolt and you are weak, but the neighbour cities are in revolt too, sooner or later you've got more friends for dinner...I can't say anymore.

. Remember what your goal is...

Yeah, Ionian Revolt is a very cool scenario. That and the Trojan War mini-map scenario are two very good examples of Slitherine at their finest.
It's one thing making a good game. Designing good scenarios is a whole different operation, and I've seen some great games with lame scenarios.
Anyhow, tips. I have four for you that won't spoil anything.
- When you get reinforcements of low troop quality, disband them. Then build them again at higher troop quality. Obviously, this only applies to troop types you can build...
- Don't be in too big a hurry, but you need to move at a certain pace, because the Persian armies attacking you just keep coming, and every one is bigger and badder than the last.
- If you watch the attacking Persian armies carefully, you will find that as long as the cities you hold remain the same, they will keep attacking the same city. This allows you to mass your troops at the city they are attacking, and garrison your other cities only lightly.
- If you're desperate for money, remember that you can always go to the F3 screen, and raise the tax rate. But be wary of the impact on happiness. Are you using the the Trade screen to trade commodities? Do you produce something excess to your needs that you can sell?
And do enjoy yourself!

Thanks, boys!
And yes, I trade as much as I can, which is very little as yet.
