During one of the present pbem , I met an interesting situation as follows :

I attack the Germany DD , & the DD retreat to the transport loop's hex until it was sunk there . Should it be able to retreat into the loop ? :)

since I forgot to make a screenshot , I just make a hotseat to show the situation :

A transport loop is a sea hex and controlled by the Axis so why not?

Hi,
I can duplicate this behavior. But, If you were trying to escape your flotilla would be trapped either way.
As a tactical retreat you could not get away fast enough trying to go through the canal. If you ships were sunk in the canal that would possibly make the canal unusable for a long time
which would be difficult to simulate.

We will have to on the look out for items such as these. no one encountered this during play testing. Since we have new rules covering how control of the canals are determined.

we may have a logic bug. If this does not happen at an open sea loop (ie Persian Gulf, Red Sea, Atlantic) that may narrow it down. But, those loop hexes are considered open sea so

you would be able to retreat and get away. To me this seems logical. You are not going to get away through a canal fast enough in realistic terms vs open sea.

Totally agree . The DD should have the chance to escape . Since in fact DD's speed is much faster than BB & sub. :)
