GS 3.0 AI getting hung up it seems

Third time now the game has hung during the AI turn in as many attempts to play a game. Save file is attached in case anyone wants to take a look. Never happened to me with 2.1. If I load this save (and also the original time I played this turn) the AI will start to play it's turn, then after a couple bombing runs the AI will get hung up. Waited several minutes but still the hourglass cursor. Odd thing is that the game itself is not crashed, I can still bring up the options menu and exit to the desktop normally.

This has also happened to me in previous games, once even during turn 1.

Getting ready to roll back to 2.1 if this can't be solved. Anyone else seen this error?

Please no comments about how I should just stop playing the AI with GS. :D

Several more attempts later, it would seem that GS 3.0 is unplayable against an axis AI. If anyone has made it to the end of a game without the game hanging up, I would like to hear about it. I haven't made it past turn 35 and I'm done trying. Never happened with 2.1.

Haven't had the problem yet with an allied AI, but we'll see how it goes. Looks like back to 2.1 in any case, it's really not much different anyway, although I did like the improved weather maps at the beginning of turns.

Might want to warn people about this when they download the update.

Having the same problem repeatedly at turn 49 after the Allied convoy movement.

I don't think GS 3.0 was designed with the AI in consideration. It was designed to be played against a human opponent and there may very well be AI issues.

Well against an Allied AI the game worked fine for me. Played from 1939 - 1946 with not any issues.

I also have a thread on the same issue with a save :( Different turn though. So at least there is two of us so maybe it will (ever hopefully :) ) it will get addressed soon.

I doubt that it will be addressed. It just seems that the game has gotten too complex for the German AI to handle. Really there is no challenge playing the German AI, even in previous versions. At least in 2.1 it never locked up on me. GS has many little boosts to help the German AI, but it seems now a threshold has been crossed and the AI cannot think clearly enough to make it's turns.

I just finished a 3.0 game against the allied AI with no problems. Single player gamers are probably better off rolling back to 2.1. Even then, or even in the vanilla game, I would not recommend gamers to play against the German AI because it is unsuitable. Besides, the fun in these type of games is to try and change history, so what sport is there in taking the historical winning side? :D

I have found a possible fix for AI games. Send me a PM with your email address to get an updated file.

I reloaded the save file attached here but it still hung up after applying the fixed class file.

Even though the patched version of the game.class file did not help me get the attached saved game running, I was in fact able to start a new game against the axis AI and play it to the end without any hang ups. So it looks like good progress was made. Thanks good job!

I too am having trouble with the game freezing when I play the allies vs the axis AI. At the end of the axis turn (turn 36), the game freezes. What is the fix for this? It never happens when I play the axis.

I am running 3.0 and every now and again the game freezes. I have captured the code at the point where it fails. Please see the attachment.
hope this helps in resolving the problem.

Hey Support I hope you are reading the posts. The game is failing quite often and as you can see from the above posts it is not just in one place. A little feedback would be helpful as I feel that you are not doing much about the problems.

It seems the game is not properly installed. Have you first installed the vanilla CEAW v1.12 game and then installed GS v3.0 to the same folder? Make sure you don't have GS v2.0, GS v2.1 or any other versions installed.

No I did not do that as there was no mention of that when I installed v2.1 then v3.0. I will do that and let you know if that solves the problem.
