I am technically inept how to I clear my inbox messages.

You mean the PM inbox? Yeah - the PM system isn't awesome!

The simplest way is to go into a message and then use the tiny [X] box top right which will delete the message.

I may be stupid but on the Ipad where in the name that anything is holy do I find that " x" box

It should be over on the right hand side next to the ! in a triangle, and the Quote button? Maybe you need to zoom out, or it could be a compatibility issue with Safari on the iPad?
