Two quick questions

New to the both the forum and the game.I've always gave hex games a cold shoulder and a look of disgust in the past until i came across a few AARs on utube.I'm normally a hardcore grog wargamer but this game really looked interesting. So after getting hold of the demo.I took the jump and bought AK and the 41 DLC(East) to sample the full treatment and it's a totally addictive experience and really fun.I'm really looking forward to getting my hands on the rest of the vast DLC content. So now for two Noob questions.

1.I'm loosing air units due to my own mishandling. Is it best to resupply'refuel after every mission they take.Usually i find them surrounded by red dots in friendly territory and boxed in,in other words i've lost them or is there some other reason for lack of supplies i'm unaware of.

2.(The usual Noob question). Are there any must have mods

It really is a great game and very very addictive.Good luck and good gaming

Glad you're enjoying this great game :D

To answer your questions....

1) When moving air units the hexes with red dots on mean if you move to that hex your plane will not have enough fuel to reach a friendly air base (note that it will not take into account the fact you may secure another airbase) Once you start seeing red dots in hexes it is best to move back to resupply. You should not need to return to refuel after each strike, when purchasing planes the fuel stat is important for each hex moved = 1 point of fuel (you will use a minimum of half your move in fuel each turn not spent next to a friendly airfield) Oh and to refuel you need to move next to an adjacent frindly airfield (or on top if you will end the move with 0 fuel) or fighters and tac bombers can refuel if they end their turn on the same hex as a friendly carrier.

In short - Just keep an eye on your planes fuel but don't feel the need to refuel every turn!

2) Not that I'm aware of...though there are some great looking mods I find the basic game far from basic and good fun :D

1) Not exactly a fuel issue, but here's some tips on using air effectively:

2) No "must haves." But:

In the past I played a lot with the cammo skins, and it was fun. I also added VPaulus' sound mods, which were amusing. Both take a little bit to install, but not a lot. Since then I've gone through enough betas, versions, changes that I didn't keep up on installing them. But they ad some color and sound that is fun. But the game stands alone for a long time before you need to hunt up other mods (and there are good ones), so nothing is a "must."

Often times the number of friendly airfields is limited and halves your effective airpower usage. In developing your scenario attack plan, make note of the airfields and make sure you seize at least one along the route early. In some games, airfields are more valuable to you than victory hexes...

There are allot of mods.

I have the AT and AA mod which adds a ton of units and an enhanced sound mod.

It won't be updated until patch 1.21 comes out.
