As a fledgling leader, you will be commanding your men in smaller, bloody, skirmishes. But as your fame grows so does your army, until thousands of men face each other on the field of battle, ready to fight for the future of the Empire.
thousands????? I wonder if my computer will be able to handle it...any experience on this?
BTW, I like the "progress" from an unknown squad leader to a many-legions' general. It is more exciting than fighting battle after battle...
As units fight they gain experience. This experience allows them to advance to a higher level, increasing their prowess. But at each level they are also able to choose new skills to learn, and these skills allow the commander to hone his troops to match their role in the battle plan.
I'm so excited about this, it's going to be somehing different for sure...it's a great idea
Multiplayer includes most of the army customization that is available in the single player game. You can choose from a selection of available resources and build an army to fight with from them. You can construct your army ahead of time if you desire, to speed you more quickly into battle when you go online. We??™ve found there are already some very great army designs appearing, but expect them to get even more interesting when we release the game.
Got no internet at home, but I've have LAN. What about LAN multiplayer? How many CDs would be needed?
the Arena series as well as the turn-based family, with Legion II : Civilisation and Empire being the next planned member of that stream.
Are you planning some new arena games? What about Spartan Arena? (BTW, CA ripped off Spartan name for their next title, Spartan TW). We all re looking forward to Legion II, even people who is not interested in Arena.
At least I can see a preview, damn internet filters!

What specification is your computer Dunc? Minimum spec has been posted on the forum someplace, possibly in the pre-order thread.

You can play LAN games from one copy of the game (it is a 2CD installer and either CD will activate the game)

Well, I have an old computer, but the graphic card is only 1 1/2 year old (ehem), radeon 9600 XT, 1 Gb RAM and Athlon 2200 (1800 MHz in fact). Main concern is I have problems moving thousands of units in most games. In RTW, I usually play with large unit type, in fact about 2000 soldiers on battlefield, the PC moves them allright, but once I laid siege in Rhodes, started a battle with 6000-7000 units or so and it was a lag-fest...
Anyway, min. requirements being GeForce 2 or something like that, 9600 XT should be fine, but looking at the screens it seems that lots of graphics are involved, i mean, THEY LOOK GREAT

...but I was just wondering what graphic card must be used to move that pretty looking legionaries lag-free if it's goin to be 1000s of them.
My question is: Is there any kind of graphic adjustments (shades, unit detail and everything)? I have a laptop too at home, ready to fight some LAN battles, but it has one of those integrated cards (i915GM?)...

Hi!
Will players be able to upgrade a unit to a better type? Say like a spearman to a legionaire.

You cannot change the basic function of a squad, but you can give it new skills & better quality equipment. A squad of Legionaries will always be a squad of Legionaries (Heavy infantry armed with a short stabbing sword that are most effective against infantry and prefer fighting in open terrain), but their combat stats will depend on the skills & equipment upgrades you have given them.
