Hi

I am toying with putting 6mm armies together for napoleons Egyptian campaign. Is there anyone else gaming in 6mm for fogn?

I have seen a number of people using 6mm figgies on 15mm-sized bases. It looks pretty cool.

It works OK - we've been toying with migrating from Polemos's General de Divison/Marechald'Empire to FOGN. Bases are broadly compatible but gets a bit awkward with large infantry units as all our bases are 60 x 30mm. Also attachments have to be either notional or external to the unit - which I, for one, find more visually satisfying. We use the wargamers standard table i.e. 6' x4' and unless scenario based, games with forces around 1000pts which gives a both sides a 3 division corp to play with.

Both rule sets have their merits (and demerits).

I think that 6mm fits perfectly on the 15mm base sizes.
Here is my first take:

Pics look cool. 15mm base sizes make sense still hung up on how many figs to the base. Infantry is down as 8 figs in the book which may make them look a little lost?

Well that is 8 15mm. I would expect more in 6 mm.

The rule book also suggests 30mm wide bases for 8 6mm figures. Scaling up to the 40mm wide bases for 15mm figures will mean at least 12 in the base.

I like the 14 per base that Derbo has done. If using Baccus figures you can get two of their strips across the base and two or three strips deep giving 16-24 figures per base - a maximum of 96 figures for a small unit!

I have a lot of Adler 1813 Prussians that are at the back of a very long painting queue. Perhaps one day...

I know this is a fairly old thread, but I'm just getting into historical wargaming, and I like the mass effect of 6mm. I decided to base up at 15mm as the MU seemed to fit, and 2 strips of Baccus minnis fit nicely on a 40mm base.

This is what I've got - the first image covers about 2 foot (the name tags are because these are part of the something awful painting oath thread)

Their not the best painted, as I've only come back to painting in the last year or so after a 15 break (GW stuff as a kid/teen) but I think they work well - 16 men to an infantry base, 4 for skirmishers and 6 horse per cav base.
