Combat Factors ++ vs - or 0

Hi Guys

I'm hoping for some clarification here:

LH Unprotected LS are flanked and fighting LH Protected Sw to their front and flank. The LH Protected have + for sword and + for armour, the LH Unprotected have - for fighting enemy in two directions.

What are the final factors? ++ or + because the protected LH cannot claim their + for armour?

If the LH Unprotected also had swords their combat factor would be + for sword - for fighting in two directions for a net 0. The Protected LH would only have a + advantage.

Please let me know what you think.

Many thanks

Matthew

In the first case the LH protected SW would count its + for sword but not its armor, but would be a net ++ due to the flanked LH fighting in two directions.
In the second case the swords would cancel out for a net +.
In both cases the armor POA cannot be claimed to raise the advantage to ++.

Thanks gorzerius.

So, my understanding is that '-' factors are in fact a '+' for the opponents unit(s).

Effectively. Both sides end up in the same situation I.e. you can't be a single - and your opponent a double ++.

So you add up and calculate both and you get one basic net result and that is where you get your to hit number.
