Placement of generals at deployment.

Hi all

This has come up in a couple of V2 games recently and I would like to confirm exactly how it should be played.

If at deployment you deploy a screen of light foot at 15 MU’s and the heavy foot behind them at 12 MU’s you will find when placing your generals that they will not fit in the space between the light foot and the heavy foot therefore potentially stopping the light foot double moving on the first turn.
Ignore the fact you could put the generals on the flank of the light foot as if you have a long, continuous battleline this will not work.

We are in agreement that the generals cannot be put in advance of 15 MU’s so cannot be put in front of the light foot.

Can the generals be put on top of the light foot rather than behind them at deployment as some people think or are they going to suffer from not leaving a general wide gap between them and the heavy foot?

Cheers

Rob

I seem to recall there's a bit in the rules about generals just being a marker so I believe it's acceptable to just tell your opponent where they are.

Of course you don't need to base them 40mm deep...

I would place them in front as they will move behind as soon as the LF move.

And yes you can place the commander on top of figures if other figures are in the way.

Generals can hold the same space as a base of a BG for simplicity.

The reference is on page 52 v2, last sentence, first column. "If there is no room ...., a marker must be placed..... to represent his position."
