The IWF championships

I understand that the IWF has taken place in South Africa. What matron said all those years ago has come to pass and I missed all the pre-event publicity in the magazines and on this forum.
A cynical man might suggest that only advertising the event a few weeks in advance was a ploy to let South Africans win unopposed. But not being a cynical man I would not agree.
The IWF website has a number of worthy aims listed on their web-site including:
‘To guard over the fair and just provision and promotion of wargames world-wide’
It seems a pity that the organising committee of the event did not read their own constitution.

If you are on Facebook you can search for "the iwf" and leave a comment on the photos of what appears to be a lot of South Africans ....

Nahh you guys must be mistaken. I'm pretty sure Colin said some months back that he was negotiating to hold it somewhere in CEE.

Central Eastern Europe.
The facebook page says it was going to be a tossup between Croatia and The Ukraine I think - but clearly they weren't enough moraruaburubba players, or blokes called Colin in either country to allow them to qualify as host countries ...

It is sad, but the IWF is just a private thing now in South Africa. Wish them luck and lets worry about ourselves.
