melee break off

Does anyone know of a way to enable units to break off from a melee? It would be nice to have the option to direct your units to retreat from a melee prior to actually routing.

Alas it can't be done. To add to your woes, only certain units are able to break off and their decision to do so is the hands of the Dice Gods.

Thanks for the reply. I suppose this is reasonable given that this game focuses on ancient and medieval warfare. I'm one of those who waits patiently for the day when this package can be expanded to include napoleonic and ACW scenarios. But I'm not so sure that that limitation will allow this game to translate well into more modern times.
