I purchased the game from Matrix when it went on deal of the month. Having fun with it but a question for those of you who have learned how to kill Tiger Tanks.

I have hit them with multiple shots, front, side, rear etc. Have hit them with Artillery barrages. Have hit them with fighter planes. Have hit them with carpet bombings. Except for a rare random kill or two, they basically just keep going. In Cobra scenario they game about 5 Tigers that just do whatever they want killing unit after unit while being seemingly invincible. Aggressive attack by allies and you get slaughtered. Stay back in defensive positions and wait for them to attack and you get slaughtered.

So, how do you kill a tiger?



Just a comment I have also been surprised how many tanks the game gives the Germans they even seem to have more tanks than the allies. So now they seem to have the expected superior tanks but also more of them.

Now the Tiger is a formidable foe. Your best option to to retreat your tanks if you want them alive and get infantry around them. That's 1 way. The other way is to overwhelm them with firepower until they are suppressed and when they are close to 0 get something close to it so it can surrender. Or do a combo of 1 and 2 were tanks suppress and infantry capture/destroy. Or vice versa. In Battle Academy you have to think like an Allied Commander. Most of the time the slow Tigers bogged down and were left at the mercy of Allied Infantry who would capture the crew or lob AT grenades into the tank. Word of advice not just any infantry men can take on a mighty Tiger. It's recommended that you use Engineers or Spec Ops (Ranger and Airborne) and assault them from behind. You may lose most of the squad but its worth saving all your tanks lol

As for your bottom comment this is sadly true so you must used combined ops. Use tanks vs Infantry and Infantry vs Tanks. And if you think Normandy is hard just wait till you meet the King Tiger in the Bulge..... The only way to destroy them is through sheer suppression. Or hit it with an M8 Howitzer. (It's a super weapon even though in real life it could barely put a dent into a tank lol)

I got a bit aprehensive when reading this...it seemed too hard to destroy a Tiger...

However...1st Tiger i found (last scenario of Western Desert) was "hard enough" but nothing like what is mentioned here...

It seems invulnerable from the front...but was destroyed by a Sherman (standard version) at 3 or so squares distance FROM THE REAR....

Seems ok to me. Haven't found them in groups...but i guess Allied weapons also improve...Firefly and such...

In Operation Cobra and Tiger Ambush is where you will find them. But for the Brits it's easy because they have 17PDR Tanks and Naval Arty. It's hard for Americans in Cobra because even thought you have a B-17 at your disposal you need it to suppress he 88's on the Hill. And yes you should always attack from the rear! It is invulnerable from the front!

You could also try the frozen river and saw method!

Tiger Ambush...it was kind of easy actually...the AI rellies on the Tigers, once they are gone the remaining units lack the strengh to break trough...

The Tigers were destroyed in three different ways and rather early...only time i played the scenario (will try again)
One by NAVAL artillery in the begining
One by a 17 pounder at 2 hexes (i think from the front...45 degrees or so)
One by a Sherman Firefly...from the side at 4 or 5 hexes (it was 21% but i took it and it worked)

So...there are severall ways to kill a Tiger after all...and i had a lot of fun in this scenario. I would like to try it from the other side...with less tanks if necessary...

I suppress them with the Naval arty then get my Cormwells/Paits to get then to surrender.

In tiger ambush keep the tigers from moving.after destroying all other units retreat behind the town and ambush the tigers with firefly tanks as they advance into the city

Its nice to see a game where Tigers are hard to kill. You only have to watch documentaries on TV to listen to tanks crews that poured shot after shot at close range only for the Tiger to rotate and take out their tank.

To many games you can kill them at fairly long distance with Sherman's. Hats of to the real heroes who managed to defeat the Germans in WWII.

Ambush! Ambush! Ambush! That and make sure you are close, toward the flank or rear, and have many shots. Cobra is a pretty easy scenario to win. I use air power and pound the hill while I advance. There is a 57mm gun that can be useful for a cheap shot on the rear of a tiger. As others have mentioned, surpression fire works wonders. Use your Priests to pound them. Someimes, they are so close together, you can reduce morale on several at once. Engineers are also key. Get them into ambush position and close assault them from the flank or rear. Finally, you can often maneuver your tanks to the flanks and get in some close range shots before they can retaliate.
