Will be running this year again, 26th/27th October at Wolvercote Village Hall

Period details are quite simple - any army, any book but has to be legal in 1695.

Army Size, 900 points

Games will be 3 hours 25 mins plus a 1-15 min(s) variable

Saturday 0915-1240, 1400-1725

There is space for (just) 16 teams.

Nigel,
Given your comments about revenge after Attack! Ben and I are always ready to beat you and Byron at the Club or in competitions. Maybe this time you can work out a real army!!!

My "taking a gazilloin pics at Britcon" strategy worked wonders. I managed to convince a friend of mine to join me so we will have a Swedish all star team.. or rather an all Swede team or..... well semantics a side, we coming to Oxford for the doubles. I'm really looking forward to playing, and even more to meeting all you guys from Britcon again :)

Does anyone have a hotel recommendation, as far as i can gather the venue are outside Oxford, i thinking the best bet might be to stay in Oxford....is it far?

Hi Fredrick, glad to see you can make it... The location of the competition is actually on the Wheatley campus, so for ease of access to the venue i would look for a b&b in Wheatley...

However,
I am assuming you will be flying over? A good tip is to take the national express coaches from central London up the M40 route. These are very cheap usually compared to train costs. It was a little while ago, but a return from oxford to London off peak was £14 return...

I am going to be staying over and maybe staying over in oxford outskirts so will have two places in my car for travel between b&b and venue... Offers there.. If interested drop me line on nigel.emsen@gmail.com and we can prob sort logistics...

Hotels/b&b in central oxford can be pricey but provide plenty of good evening bars/food places....

Anyway offer is there... No offence will be taken... If declined.... I will cast a curse on your dice if we play thou :)

Cheers
Nigel

I think the BHGS FOGR Doubles (unhelpfully called "The Pairs" on the website) is taking place at Wolvercote village hall, which is the Oxford club venue. It's the Challenge next April that is in Wheatley.

There is a Travelodge near Wolvercote - http://www.travelodge.co.uk/hotels/60/O ... tree-hotel

Also a Holiday Inn - http://www.ihg.com/holidayinnexpress/ho ... 95&srb_u=1

and The Oxford Hotel which Nigel mentioned - http://www.pumahotels.co.uk/hotels/the-oxford-hotel/

Any more entries ...? The co-located FoW tournament is now almost full, so FOGR may come under pressure to release some tables....

Ha! a curse will do you no good! I will sacrifice a pint of lager to Nuffle the good of dice before i play....besides...lady Fortuna loves me :D

Other then the curse its greatly appriciated! My friend (also named Fredrik for convenience) Is in charge of boking the flight and transport from London. We will try to avoid cars so the train of some sort is probably the best bet. So will be carless once wer in Oxford

Fredric,

There is a Oxford Bus service direct from Heathrow ( every 20 or 30 minutes) or Gatwick (every hour) direct to the centre of Oxford ( http://airline.oxfordbus.co.uk/). From the centre of Oxford you get a number 6 bus to Wolvercote or a Park and Ride to Peartree (number 300 - but must get it to Pear Tree and not Redbridge ).

Looks like Billy no-mates is minus a partner, again!

Anybody interested in sharing command of a bunch of sub-standard, antiquated pedestrians should drop me a line.
