I mentioned this over at the Matrix forum. I have a couple units awarded the George Cross, which is a civilian award not a military award. This may be awarded to military personnel, but not for gallantry in the face of the enemy.

Could it be replaced by the victoria cross? Or is that already in there? Nevermind it is...
Maybe the
Distinguished Service Cross?
Seems pretty difficult to find UK medals here. Most of them were only given to Army, Navy or Air force or just to officers etc etc. There are few medals that were in effect during WW2 that could be given to anyone :/ Maybe the George cross is still a good compromise I dunno.

Form looking at the
wikipedia article I would have chosen, Military Cross, DSO and VC, as they are the hightest decorations in each category (3a, 2a and 1 respectively). The DSC is the same as the MC but one is for 'land' battles and the other for 'sea' battles it says.
Also I believe that the MC and the Military Medal are the same award but one is for officers the other for NCO's/enlisted.

It used to be the case that the MM was for "other ranks" but now all ranks can get the MC

The George Cross is equivalent to VC and worn second to the VC. The Military Cross is a good option except only awarded to officers. Same with the DSO other ranks get the DSM Bloody Brits so class orientated

There have been GC's awarded in combat zones to troops, but only to the likes of medics and EOD

While we're on the subject of medals: It occurred to me while playing tonight that it would be nice if earning a medal brought some small tangible benefit to the unit in question, such as immediate resupply (without expending a turn) or even immediate elite reinforcement up to 10. Nothing permanent, just some small, fleeting token of the brass's appreciation.
