Spartan will not install from disk on Windows 7

Hello everyone,
I am trying to install Spartan on my Windows 7 Professional copy, I have tried running as admin, troubleshooting compatibility, and browsing the forums for answers. I get an error when I try to install Spartan as follows "Spartan has stopped working", the game will not install, any ideas?

What version of the game have you got? Boxed, download, etc.

Is it recent, or an older copy? Can you tell us what publisher logos are on the box - thanks!

On the Manual it says Slitherine & Graphsim, this is more than likely an older copy.

Ah - OK. I'm guessing then that whatever installation software they used isn't compatible with W7. Although that's somewhat odd. Have you tried running in XP compatibility mode? Perhaps trying to install to a different folder?

I have tried running comparability in many different modes, I cant even get it to install off the disk, it gives me the error "Setup.exe has stopped working"

Have you tried copying all the files to a folder and running the installer from there? If you can get the game to install you will probably still need the CD in the tray to play, but might solve the installer issue.

Just tried that also using compatibility modes for XP / 98/ and 95, with XP its the same errors as before, with 98/95 nothing comes up but my system starts to spam setup.exe in my process tree.

It sounds like the installer just isn't compatible any more. I would suggest returning the game to the retailer, assuming you bought it recently.

No I have had the game for years now, bought it back in 2006 I believe.

I'm afraid there isn't much we can do to help then. We have no way of knowing what system Graphsim used for its installer, or why it has stopped working. If the installer has any kind of branding, you might try Google in case there is some kind of generic solution to its incompatibility.
