Yet another updater crash!

I was really looking forward to trying Pandora out over coffee this morning. But, as it seems many people have reported, there seem to be unresolved issues with the Pandora Updater.

I use Clam AV, and the Windows 7 built-in firewall.

First attempt:

1) Turned Clam AV off.
2) Clicked on Pandora Beta.
3) Crash!

Second attempt:

1) Restarted Windows.
2) Turned Clam AV off.
3) Logged exceptions for both Pandora Beta, and the Updater, with Windows Firewall.
4) Clicked on Pandora Beta.
5) Crash!

In sum:

Take a look at the known issues thread. It could either be outdated drivers (you can update / attach dxdiag) or a background program making it crash (you can use msconfig to shut down services).

Regards,
Rok

I've never had a driver problem. My laptop isn't awesome, but I can play Starcraft 2, etc. with pretty good graphic settings.

As for background processes, I've never had an issue with those before either. I check periodically, and only have those running that I consider essential. Having said that, I made a third attempt:

1) Uninstalled the antivirus.
2) Restarted Windows without an antivirus.
3) Clicked on Pandora Beta (No antivirus running).
4) Crash!

I've attached the result of dxdiag.

Thanks.

Quite sure it's the graphics drivers, they are from 2009. We use OpenGL while Starcraft 2 etc use DirectX under Windows. Older drivers have pretty crappy OpenGL support, which can cause issues as you've experienced.

Hope that helps,
Rok

Hmph, well I can't do much about that :? It's a Sony Vaio, and from what I can tell AMD doesn't have a newer driver, nor does Sony.

Edit: It appears that AMD had a package on their website that did the trick (without Sony's blessing). I updated the driver, and Pandora launched OK.
