First Thoughts

Really liking the game so far. Reminds me a lot of Alpha Centauri which is a good thing.
The tech tree is awesome, the factions seem reasonably different and the maps are beautiful...
When I was trying to place my first city I had no idea what the different resource icons were and what would be good. A quick explanation early would be much appreciated. If I had known I would have placed my first city a little differently.
Couple thoughts. I played quite a bit before I ran into another faction, but when I did I immediately got frustrated because they started building cities in the worst places. I tend to place my cities a little further apart, but they only put 2-3 tiles between their's. So now I have a bunch of AI cities inter-spaced with mine... I would love to see a minimum distance needed, or at least some better AI choices on cities... I for one would never put a city between two rival cities because I know it would be impossible to defend if attacked. The AI should think the same way.
Diplomacy seems a bit lackluster. Not sure exactly what could be improved but right now it seems a bit blah. Sorry I can't really expand on that anymore. I just don't see a reason to bother with it. It just feels very generic.
For the artillery (or any more than one attack ranged unit) there really should be a bombard button or a long shot button or something. I didn't even know they could shoot further until I saw the AI doing it. And even then I wasn't sure how it worked.
Anyway, the game is a lot of fun. Great job guys!
