Goodbye, Nagai-san

I'm sure most of you have seen the photo by now. Japanese press photographer Kenji Nagai, shot and fatally wounded by Burmese soldiers, holding up his camera with his dying breath for one last photograph.
Farewell, brave soul, fare thee well indeed.
Go contentedly to whatever afterlife awaits you, after the fashion of your faith and your people. Rest peacefully, knowing you did your duty well, and that your death was a brave and honorable one, in keeping with the finest traditions of your ancient nation.
I do not know, Nagai-san, whether the prayers and best wishes of a mere gaijin can be of any help to you now. But for what little they may be worth, you have mine.
Farewell, brave soul, farewell.
