Ok Got it. I finished the GC 1941 East. The first difference I notice is that you only get 4 SS units for 42 in the west while for the 42 east GC you can have 5. Seems like you get the better units hands down in the East. Anyway I have a powerful core of units to pick from all with hero's or mostly. I can wait to get started.

Last time i looked, there was no such thing as a GC41 EAST DLC !
For what i know the first EAST DLC is the '43 Version.

Well it's not called "East" but since it plays on the eastern front and mostly against the USSR... ;)

I did all of the 1942 scenarios. So I'm getting ready to start the Syracuse. At first glance it looks daunting. I upgraded all my units. I have 1 tiger and 3 Panther tanks, plus 1 stug AT. I have a big air force with 2 FW 190A, 3 ME 109G and 2 Me 410E. I really don't feel like I have enough units. 3 Artillery and 6 infantry all HW type. Also 1 Flak 88 AA/AT gun. A lot of meat for hitting at the allies.

Hello kevini, good luck with Syracuse, this scenario can be a real test.

Without spoiling too much, make sure you know what you are expected to do: you simply have to evacuate as many Italians as quickly as possible, and make sure there are none left on the map. This is a real 'mission'-style map, like many others in GC'42-43 West, and staying focused on that helps a lot. Good luck.

I beat the Messina Scenario and got 18 land units across the straights and held five objectives. I won decisive victory and got 2 prototype units, very nice :).

Now next is 2 path options.

The Salerno Landing/Salerno counter attack vs. Catanzaro/Taranto path.

Catanzaro says I keep the Italians that I rescued but I don't see them in my reserve or core group. I imagine that I'm not taking these guys to Normandy or the Bulge later on anyway. Up front the Salerno path looks more challenging.

For Catanzaro, only the Italians that are part of your core are transferred, but the auxiliaries will be gone. I assume you do not have any Italians as core units, only as auxiliaries, although both can be part of your reserve.

The Italians have switched sides, the briefing mentions to treat any Italian unit as hostile, except those already in your core. BTW, those bonus airplanes you get are very useful, good job on getting them.

I went for Salerno Landing and won it in 2 turns. Perhaps if I would have taken longer then I might have gotten some Easter eggs.

I'm doing well so far in the Salerno counter attack. I'm using some caution and being patient. So far I killed 1 supply dump and captured three victory hexes.

Ok I got a decisive victory at Salerno. Now onto the next one. It seems I will have to win the next scenario with 20 units plus 4 SS here. Looking forward to the future, I'm worried that I won't have enough experienced units for 1944. I still only have 4 tanks, 6 infantry, 4 artillery, AT and 1 recon unit. I have a nice air force with 7 fighters and 3 tactical bombers. I also have 4 88's and 1 Motorized Flak. I would really like having 4 more tanks, 2 more infantry, 2 more artillery, 2 more AT and recons units each.
