I would prefer
1. center all messgaes
2. use pictures for illustration

The second topic seems to be difficult for slitherine (copyright) and it makes much more work.
You could use the unit PNG or bigunit pictures: Example: Message:"Reinforcement by RAF" -> pic of the hurrican.

Additional to this a small pics of the battleground, like a roadmap for the actual scenario in the briefing. This will increase the feeling of advancing in the camapaign. Who cares about the oasis "Sidi Something", if nobody knows anything about the importance of the stratgic places...
