LORDS OF THE HOLY LAND circa 1100 AD

A new power had risen in the East. The success of the First Crusade had led to the creation of the kingdom of Jerusalem and other Frankish principalities along the Levantine coast. Enemies abounded. The Fatimids of Egypt had not given up the hope of recovering their lost dominions. The Syrian emirates further north looked uneasily at the growing power of the Crusader states. The Byzantines, who had hoped to gain more from the crusade, lurked in southern Anatolia. And lastly the Seljuk Turks were still a force to be reckoned with. The stage is thus set for the Lords of the Holy Land.

**Armies (500 pts):

Early Crusaders 1100-1120 (must take Saracen Allies)
Fatimid Egypt 978-1071
Kommenan Byzantine (Early) 1071-1099
Syrian States (Early) 1092-1120
Seljuk Turks (Hamadan) 1092-1099 (must take Arab Allies)

**Restrictions:

ARMIES:
40 BG MAXIMUM
NO light troops (i have enough of those uncatchable things running around everywhere)
8 lancers MINIMUM
8 HF/Mob MINIMUM (no more than 2 mobs)
Leaders: 1 Field and a minimum of 2 other Troop Commanders. (therefore 3-4 commanders, including 1 Field and none Inspired)
No allies except where indicated.

TERRAIN:
Desert, Very Open.
whoever wins initiative has to pick a desert map (unless no desert map offered)

**As before, players can pick same army, as long as all armies are picked. Mirror games etc.
**Reliable (no disappearance acts) and pleasant (no whining) players only please. Must try to average 1 turn a day or two.

Recruitment open.

Haven't ventured out of Classical times in ages, but this looks good, so put me down for Crusaders.

P.S. Do you have this book, Morbio?

This sounds like a fun tournament. I'd like to join if possible. Put me down for the Syrian States.
Cheers

seriously? let's see. you and i don't get along. your online moniker is turk something. I chose the turks as my army. hence the irony. I pointed out the irony. somehow it became a snide remark? and what exactly are the other insulting remarks i directed at you? if i wanted to make our disagreement over LOEG public, i would have done so and it would have been nasty and direct (hint: rear split move). there was no intent to attack you here, if i did, i apologize, but seriously you need to chill out.

Just in case anyone hasn't noticed yet , the split move rear charge bug was fixed with the patch for the Battle Pack roughly a year ago so restrictions on doing that type of move or accusations of doing so are pretty much ancient history at this point and wouldn't have affected this LoEG season or last.

Ok, I'm in. When I get to my laptop this evening, I'll pick an army.

What does "mirror games" mean?

well, we stand in front of a mirror and ask who's the prettiest fog player. but since everyone already knows it's me, it just means in the second round you will be playing all your opponents (but nonetheless friends), using with their armies and they play with yours.

That's no fun!

I want to pick an army that is completely superior to all others and win every game.

This format might actually force me to improve my play!

Once you get over the humiliation of losing "both ways" it is quite educational!
