I've just purchased the game...download plus disc (which hasn't arrived yet). Thought I had downloaded it okay...read entire manual (which downloaded just fine)...but when I went and clicked on"Play" nothing happens...need some help.

Did you manage to run the game? This is most likely Visual Studio 2008 Runtime installation issue.

because i've got the same problem after a complete windows 7 revamp, i'm using this thread.

Problem description:

After starting the game, nothing happens. ATI drivers are the latest, also DX & VS Runtime. Nevertheless the game won't start.
ctgw.log file will not appear in "My Documents\My Games\Commander The Great War", so i can't attach that file.

I would recommend installing VS 2012 redist next to VS 2008 - it sometimes helps with similar issues. You can download it here: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download ... x?id=30679.

After Nebril's replay i run it, but it was a little bit tricky.

Workaround:

- Deinstallation of all VS redists and CTGW
- Download and Installation of all VS redists x64 ( 2005, 2008, 2010, 2012 )
- Installation of the game, including the VS redist 2008 x86 -> game works -> umimatsu is happy
