For rear support, the rules say that the number of bases must be at least half of the original number of BG supported.
If the Bg that give support is Elephants, i must count 2 bases or 4, the number equivalent of elephants in the " hit for bases " adjustament ?

Just count 2 bases as this is the 'original number of bases'.

The number 2 is correct but Zoltans logic 'as this is the 'original number of bases' is wrong. The 'original number of bases' refers to the battle group that is being supported and not the supporting battle group.

Made a right tit of myself for being right but for the wrong reason, eh tit?

So a BG of elephants (counting only as 2 bases for rear support calculations, not 4) can support a BG that originally had 4 bases or less. A BG of elephants can not (by itself) support a BG that originally had 6 or more bases.
