An artillery attachment may be positioned alondside an exsiting base of an unit. This will increase the frontage of the unit. (p. 89)
Does this widen the area of fire of this unit and does this unit get a new centre point?

Assuming you mean an artillery unit (as an artillery attachment replaces a base in an infantry or cavalry unit) then yes on both parts of your question.
