Hi,
Do you have a black list of gamers?
Some stop the game at very strange time or when they want without say nothing to the player they play with!
Cant an IA take the control of the game in such case? I think not!
So a list of bad player is interesting if the way they act often goes in the same way : BAD.
What do you think about???????????
Some players stop the game when they want for many reasons.
Recently a player take all the flag loosing many materials and stop the game and give me the victory!? We werent at the middle of the game!
Where is the fair play?????

We don't currently have this feature but if there is demand we can look in to it.

HI,
When multiplayer playing, its good to salute your ennemy and to present yourself. No need to make a long speech (writting). Even in your language but english is the best world language.
The best is playing to the end or when you have not enough troops to win or claim the victory, you can surrender.

We can make also a white list :) . Its perhaps better than a blacklist   .

If believing that English is the best world language is a prerequisite for being added to your "white" list than please add me to the "black" one.

I've just noticed this relates to a thread I just started: viewtopic.php?f=87&t=42210

ETA: how do you link to other threads/posts?

People, this isn't RL...this is a GAME! Why are you trying to treat it like something other than it is? Players are going to end games early or just stop playing them for what ever reason, RL happens. I have had it happen to me a few times but I never though of going headhunting or blacklisting these users. They may have had a valid reason for needing to surrender, so just because they do you are going to penalize them or black list them to the community??? NO!

This is a game and needs to be played as such. Be happy and grateful that Lordz and Slitherine have created such a wonderful game for us to enjoy. Don't bring it down just because someone surrenders on you.

I would more likely NOT pick up a game from members like you than from someone who has surrendered early in a past game.

(Yes, I posted this in both threads because it deserves the attention)

I think that he just meant it is the best language for enabling communication all around the world, not that it was the best language in the world. That is: the "best world language" rather than the "world's best language".

:)

Cheers

Yes, for now English has emerged as the lingua franca of the world. Funny how that changes - from the wikipedia about lingua franca - "Lingua Franca was a mixed language composed mostly (80%) of Italian with a broad vocabulary drawn from Old French, Greek, Arabic, Portuguese and Spanish."

It's been my experience, that I am ok if a game must be cancelled, and all I really ask (for myself) is if a game MUST be ended abruptly, please just say so.

I have no fondness (and doubt anyone would) for gamers that wander off and just leave you to wonder, is it over? are they coming back? what?

But occasionally you will play a game, and in 2 moves so completely trash your game, or the opposite, so completely trash your opponent, that victory is highly likely. Hey Chess can get a win in 3 moves eh, it happens.

Best answer to all of this: find a group of gamers you enjoy playing ... ignore the rest! :D

Ok - pick up a new opponent now and then but once you find a cadre of guys that are dependable just stick with them and that way you will never be disappointed.

I play three guys on a semi-regular basis now and it has been very enjoyable.

Hi,
Pips is right about "english language". I just want to say that and no more.
Otherwise, I thnak you for replies and will think about...So no Black or white list...Just hope to have a pleasant opponent to have a fair game.
Trying to make the game discovered by friends to play with them too...
Regards.

I just want to say thus, about the English language, and this coming from someone born to an English speaking family in an English speaking country (even if I was born originally in Quebec), I respect those that did NOT get born into an English speaking family in an English speaking country actually in most cases speaking BETTER English than I routinely get stuck dealing with from people that also were born to an English speaking family in an English speaking country.

My hat is off to those of you that were born into another language.
You often write better than many of us that supposedly speak it natively.

I'm always looking for one or two new opponents, send me a game invite. But please not the Desert campaign, as the sand gets in my shoes and that is just a problem I cannot bear.

Semantics apart....

As a mediocre player (who has had the privelege of playing some very skilled opponents), but as someone who loves war games, any decision on my part to surrender is based on a number of factors.

The better my opponent, the more I believe I have a 'duty' to provide them with a challenging game. This aspect when combined with stupid game play on my part and or an impossible game/resource position for my forces, will/would prompt me to surrender. This can be compounded were ones opponent never provides any messages - something that I find quite disconcerting and in complete contrast to many opponents (you know who you are...) who provide interesting, amusing and relevant dialogue and comment.

While I try to flag my intention to surrender, this topic has at least emphasised to me that I need to flag such an intention in every case.

The other aspect is with regard to games that 'appear' to be abandoned. I guess 'etiquette' would suggest one PMs the other player before deleting the game.

As noted, there is another topic dealing with this subject...
